Request for Information –Tablet computers for CSC offenders
Trade agreement: Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA), World Trade Organisation-Agreement on Government Procurement (WTO-AGP), Canada Korea Trade Agreement (CKTA), Canada free trade agreements with Chile/Colombia/Honduras/Panama, Canada-Peru Free Trade Agreement, Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and Canada-United Kingdom Trade Continuity Agreement (Canada-UK TCA), Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

Nature of this RFI:
The Correctional Service Canada (CSC) is requesting Industry feedback regarding the provision of secure computing and technology goods and services to facilitate offender rehabilitation.
CSC is seeking information about a complete “solution”. A complete solution includes hardware and software developed specifically to meet the requirements of IT equipment used by offenders in a correctional institution environment:
• Tablet computers (tamperproof and purpose-built for prison use);
• Tablet computer software applications for delivery of various types of services, such as:
o Communication services (e.g., Video Visitation, email, instant messaging);
o Library and Education services;
o Controlled Online services (i.e., GC websites, housing);
o Institutional services (e.g., institutional forms, scheduling); and
o Entertainment services (e.g., music, movies, electronic books);
• Digital information storage; and
• Supporting infrastructure (e.g., servers, additional networks).
The following is a summary of the objectives of this RFI.
Objectives:
a. To inform industry of a potential requirement;.
b. To gather information which would aid in the refinement of the documents for a potential requirement;
c. To identify solutions and potential approaches that would meet CSC’s requirements;
d. To gain an understanding of fee structures and potential costs for such devices and services;
e. To align CSC’s expectations and requirements with industry capacity and experience.
This RFI is neither a call for tendered nor a Request for Proposal (RFP).
No agreement or contract will be entered into based on this RFI. The issuance of this RFI is not to be considered in any way as a commitment by the Government of Canada, nor as authority to potential respondents to undertake any work that could be charged to Canada. This RFI is not to be considered as a commitment to issue a subsequent solicitation or award contract(s) for the work described herein.
