Term Contract for twice per year mowing of 3 dams at King and Queen Hatchery

The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources is soliciting bids for a term contract to provide twice-yearly mowing and trimming services for three dams at the King and Queen Fish Hatchery in Stevensville, Virginia. The target areas include the Icehouse, Walker Coleman, and Spring Branch dams, specifically focusing on spillways, riprap, and overflow outlet pipes. Services are scheduled for May and October, with a requirement that mowing only occur when soil is dry to prevent damage. The scope includes litter pickup prior to mowing and the application of waterbody-approved herbicides by a certified applicator. Preferred equipment includes Ventrac dual wheeled tractors or hand mowing, while standard tractors and skid steers are non-preferred due to rutting risks. The contract features a base term from the date of award through September 30, 2027, with four one-year renewal options. Award priority is given to DSBSD-certified micro and small businesses, with the contract being awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder on a grand total basis. Bidders must provide three references, including at least one for dam mowing, and submit Safety Data Sheets for any chemicals used. Invoicing occurs annually after June 1st for May services and after November 1st for October services. Bids must be submitted via the e-VA platform by October 5, 2026, and must include a signed acknowledgement of Addendum 1 and a Certificate of Insurance.
