THUMS (C-139) Well Rework Program at Island Chaffee

THUMS Long Beach Co. is undertaking a rework program for the C-139 existing producer well, located offshore on Island Chaffee within the Wilmington Oil Field. This project, identified by API number 0423720913 and operating under CalGEM permit 7056195, involves a series of technical operations including plugging back the existing completion, perforating a new section of the well, and installing a new 3-1/2 inch screen with gravel packing. The final phase of the rework includes running an electric submersible pump (ESP) to return the well to production. The project is overseen by the California Department of Conservation, Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM). It has been granted a Notice of Exemption from full environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), as the work is limited to existing wellbores and well pads and falls under several categorical exemptions for existing facilities and minor alterations.
