Full Description

In response to the April/May, 2015 earthquake in Nepal, USAID/Nepal decided to expand current Sajhedari efforts to provide a quality, medium term response to the need by extending strategic elements of its ongoing USAID program into affected districts where Sajhedari could provide necessary immediate local governance assistance for planning efforts around recovery, including activities such as rapid roll-out of locally-managed small-scale infrastructure projects; coordination of integrated mobile camps to provide multiple government services to citizens; facilitation of MoFALD post-disaster planning process; and support on citizen oversight, social accountability, mediation, and public reporting. The idea was to use the current contract of Sajhedari project because the project is providing similar services in the six districts of the Mid and Far Western Regions, improving the ability of targeted communities to better direct their own development. USAID/Nepal decided to increase the TEC of the project by adding $10 million to bring the TEC to $35,069,500 from $25,069,500 to implement the recovery plan.
