The U.S. Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center issued a solicitation for the top-end overhaul of the Motoren Und Turbinen Union (MTU) 8V396TE94 marine propulsion diesel engines used in 87-foot patrol boats. The contract focused on comprehensive maintenance and refurbishment of the engine’s upper section, aimed at ensuring continued operational reliability for these vessels. The solicitation number associated with this effort was HSCG40-10-N-10439, posted on April 1, 2011, under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 336611. The procurement was managed by the SFLC Procurement Branch 3 within the Department of Homeland Security and was based out of Baltimore, Maryland. However, the statement of work that guided this procurement was inadvertently distributed to multiple potential bidders, prompting the contract cancellation in compliance with federal acquisition regulations (FAR Part 15.201(f)). As a result, the solicitation and any related procurement actions were terminated, and no further steps will be taken under this notice. Points of contact for this solicitation included contracting officers Walter A. Mack and Mildred Figuereo, who were available for inquiries before the cancellation. The contract documentation and updates were accessible via the federal procurement website.
