The Austin Webcor Joint Venture has been awarded a project to upgrade the passenger boarding infrastructure at the International Terminal Boarding Area G, which involves designing, constructing, activating, and commissioning new passenger boarding bridges suitable for both narrow and wide-body aircraft. The scope includes removing old PBBs, installing advanced visual guidance systems, and enhancing pavement and fire hydrant systems, along with civil, utility, foundation, superstructure, mechanical, plumbing, telecommunication, and special systems work. The project emphasizes minimizing operational disruptions by limiting gate closures to no more than one at a time. For the mechanical and plumbing systems trade package, the joint venture is seeking pre-qualified subcontractors capable of delivering design-build services within a lump sum agreement, with an estimated cost of around $3 million. The selection process prioritizes a best-value approach over the lowest bid, requiring interested firms to meet pre-qualification criteria, including Webcor pre-qualification, before submitting proposals by March 2025. The project aims to incorporate at least 10% participation from small business enterprises and involves comprehensive coordination to ensure seamless integration with ongoing airport operations. Interested parties can contact designated Webcor representatives for pre-qualification and project details.
