Leon County is seeking qualified vendors to provide transportation and recycling services for obsolete electronic devices, specifically palletized units collected from the Leon County Solid Waste Management Facility or other designated locations. The contractor will be responsible for transporting these devices to their facility, where they will be prepared for reuse, resale, or donation to suitable end users. Additionally, the contractor must process the electronic waste by recycling as many components as economically feasible and ensuring proper disposal of non-recyclable parts. Special attention is required for cathode ray tubes (CRTs) due to their hazardous lead content, mandating reuse, recycling, or hazardous waste disposal. Bidders must demonstrate certification under e-Steward and/or R2 standards, with valid proof of such credentials as a prerequisite for consideration. The contract, titled "Transportation and Recycling of Obsolete Electronic Equipment," is posted under solicitation number BC-2025-018, with a response deadline of April 3, 2025, and is valued between $50,000 and $200,000. The project is managed by Melanie Hooley, reachable via email or phone, and is part of Leon County's broader efforts to ensure environmentally responsible electronic waste management within Florida.
