This action was for a bridge contract for the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) Clinical Affairs, Dissemination, Research, and Mission Support contract support.  The awarded contract supports the Military Health System, Defense Health Agency, and the Department of War to execute education, training, clinical support tools, clinical recommendations, and research requirements on brain injury and warfighter brain health.  Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is the most common injury in the current theater operations (i.e., Operation Epic Fury), and without a bridge effort in place, a work stoppage would result in failure to provide pre-deployment brain injury and brain health training and education to providers, line leaders, service members, and family.  This requirement was executed as a sole source contract utilizing the incumbent vendor, General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), to support the Government.  The work is aligned with leadership priorities, including those of the DHA Director, the Undersecretary of War for Personnel and Readiness, and the Assistant Secretary of War for Health Affairs.  The work significantly impacts clinical and operational communities as well as other agencies.  TBICoE promotes force readiness and warfighter lethality with efforts that support improved brain health strategies and TBI prevention, assessment, and care, and return to duty after injury with contractor SMEs across 40 different taxonomies.
