AI Contract Overview

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed price purchase order to SPEED Biosystems, LLC for 50 units of 20 ml Turbo293 Transfection Reagents. These reagents are essential for the Vaccine Research Center to produce protein immunogens and antibodies for vaccine studies used in human clinical trials. Because these reagents are already integrated into ongoing projects, the government has determined that changing suppliers could compromise research results, making SPEED Biosystems the only responsible source capable of satisfying the requirement. This procurement falls under NAICS code 325413 for In-Vitro Diagnostic Substance Manufacturing. While the government intends to award the contract within fifteen days of the notice, other interested vendors may submit a capabilities statement and past performance documentation to the contract specialist to challenge the sole source determination. The government maintains full discretion on whether to conduct the procurement on a competitive basis based on the responses received.
