Combined Sources Sought Notice and Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source Contract for ScanWave Pro electronic controller for a Vero AFM
Solicitation # NB643090-26-01166
NIST is seeking market input to identify alternative commercial suppliers capable of providing a single integrated scanning Microwave Impedance Microscopy (sMIM) electronic controller to replace its existing modular microwave assembly on a Government-owned Vero Atomic Force Microscope. The controller must be fully compatible with the existing ScanWave 2.0 Probe Interface module without requiring hardware modifications and must deliver at least a tenfold improvement in measurement sensitivity while enabling seamless integration with the AFM’s multimodal capabilities, including electrical, mechanical, thermal, and piezoelectric characterization. The system must support direct nanoscale impedance measurements and preserve all current workflows tied to the Vero AFM’s customized holder and instrumentation. NIST is not committed to a sole source procurement with Primenano, Inc., and is actively exploring competition if capable alternatives exist; the acquisition strategy remains undetermined pending market feedback. Respondents are requested to provide detailed information including company profiles, product specifications, manufacturing origins, commercial pricing, warranty terms, and compliance with federal regulations such as the FAR clause on subcontracting limitations. Responses must indicate whether the product qualifies as a commercial item or COTS and include standard commercial terms and conditions. NIST is particularly interested in input on whether the requirements could be refined to encourage domestic manufacturing and broader competition. All submissions must be received by August 12, 2026, and should not include proprietary or classified information. This notice is purely for market research and does not obligate NIST to award a contract or compensate respondents. Information gathered will inform the development of a potential future solicitation that may be posted on SAM.gov or eBuy, and responses to this notice do not substitute for formal bid submissions.
