The California Department of Fish and Wildlife issued Restoration Management Permit RMP-2026-0042-R5 to the Environmental Restoration Group, LLC, represented by Debra Sharpton. This Qualifying Restoration Project, located in Calabasas, California, focuses on ecosystem enhancements to benefit special status species. The primary objectives include increasing populations of the California red-legged frog and arroyo chub by removing invasive Louisiana red-swamp crayfish, which currently threaten these species through predation and food competition. Additionally, the project involves terrestrial revegetation to expand nesting habitats for the least Bell's vireo. By addressing these ecological needs, the project is expected to provide substantial cumulative benefits to native wildlife, plants, and their surrounding habitats. The initiative is managed under the authority of the Fish and Game Code and is overseen by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Region 5.

The Project includes management or propagation activities intended to benefit native fish, wildlife, plants, or their habitat, or a combination thereof. The Project is expected to increase populations of California red-legged frog (Rana draytonii) and arroyo chub (Gila orcuttii) by removing the threat of predation by Louisiana red-swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii), an aquatic invasive species, and competition for food sources.
