Upright Microscope for Electrophyciology and High End Confocal Imaging

The National Institutes of Health intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC. The National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Deafness and Other Communication Disorders. The laboratory intends to purchase an new upright microscope with confocal and electrophysiology capabilities, will be built by the manufacturer combining the new parts we order here with old parts of the LSM 780 confocal. This upright microscope will be used with another confocal microscope within the laboratory. See attached Brand Name Justification and Sole Source for further details. Responses The proposed acquisition action is for items and services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract acquisition based upon responses to the notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice does not obligate the Government to award a contract or otherwise pay for the information provided in response. The Government reserves the right to use information provided by respondents for any purpose deemed necessary and legally appropriate.
