AI Contract Overview
The United States Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa, is seeking a contractor to provide comprehensive waste management and recycling services at its main embassy and annex locations. The scope includes supplying, installing, and maintaining secure 240-liter wheelie bins for general and non-recyclable waste, ensuring all bins are clearly labeled and made of durable, weather-resistant materials. The contractor must implement anchoring systems to prevent unauthorized movement or displacement by severe weather, while still allowing for easy access by collection services. In addition to general waste management, the contract requires the setup of an on-site sorting area equipped with stable metal stands and labeled, reusable bulk bags to separate different recyclable materials such as paper, cardboard, plastics, metals, and organics, all supported by clear, prominent signage. The responsibilities extend to the quarterly deep cleaning and disinfection of bins and e-waste containers, with a mandate to repair or replace any damaged bins within 48 hours and to address odor issues within 24 hours. The contractor must also provide a dedicated, weather-resistant container for the safe collection and temporary storage of electronics, used printer cartridges, and batteries. All cleaning supplies must be stored securely on-site, and containers must be properly labeled and large enough to manage typical quarterly volumes until pick-up. The solicitation is open for responses until July 30, 2025, and further details can be obtained through the Embassy’s point of contact.
