USCG AIRFAC CORDOVA FIRE SYSTEM REPAIRS & INSPECTIONThe U.S. Coast Guard Air Facility in Cordova, Alaska, is set to receive a sole source firm fixed price contract for 2025 deficiency corrections and replacement of a failed fire alarm control system, along with the 2026 annual inspection, awarded to Yukon Fire Protection Services, Inc. based in Anchorage, Alaska. This decision is justified under FAR 12.102, as the vendor uniquely possesses the necessary testing documentation, system knowledge, and proven capability to complete repairs without redundant diagnostic efforts, having previously performed work under a 2025 competitive purchase order that revealed critical system failures. The remote location of Cordova further supports the sole source approach by enabling significant travel cost savings through combining repair and inspection activities in a single visit. The procuring entity is USCG Base Kodiak, with performance taking place at the Cordova facility, and the acquisition will follow FAR Part 12 procedures for commercial items under NAICS code 561621. This notice of intent is not a solicitation for competitive bids but serves as a formal opportunity for other organizations to submit written capabilities and qualifications by July 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Alaska time, to demonstrate their ability to perform the work and potentially justify a competitive procurement. The government retains full discretion to determine whether to proceed with sole source award or open competition based solely on these submissions, and oral communications will not be considered. The solicitation number is 20270PR260001650, and the point of contact for submissions is Robbin Kessler at robbin.m.kessler@uscg.mil.
