The United States Space Force has awarded a non-competitive contract to Burlington Industries LLC for the procurement of dark navy suiting fabric intended for the manufacture of the new USSF Service Dress Uniform. Awarded on June 18, 2024, for a total value of 1,892,000 dollars, the contract was granted without competition because Burlington Industries LLC was identified as the only responsible source capable of meeting all government requirements, including the production schedule and Berry Amendment compliance. The contract, identified by award number FA8606-24-C-B001, will be performed in Charlotte, North Carolina. This sole-source action was justified by the fact that the contractor's fabric requires no additional development, ensuring that the program objectives are met without unacceptable delays. The procurement was managed by the contracting office located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.

Next Generation One-Person Life Raft Modernization
Solicitation # FA8606-26-R-5001
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Human Systems Division is conducting a market assessment to identify capable sources for the Next Generation One-Person Life Raft Modernization. This initiative aims to replace a 46-year-old legacy raft with a modern flotation system capable of supporting an isolated person for 14 days. A primary objective of the modernization is to significantly reduce the packed volume of the raft by 35 to 50 percent compared to the legacy LRU/16P, thereby increasing space and weight margins within seat survival kits to accommodate additional survival components and reduce maintenance. Technical requirements include durability for 5th to 95th percentile users, rainwater collection, sea anchor capabilities, and IR signature management. The government is seeking Rough Order of Magnitude cost estimates for approximately 2,000 production units and 30 ruggedized training units, as well as costs for technical manuals and a Technical Data Package to ensure future competitive procurement. This Sources Sought Synopsis is used for market research to determine the acquisition strategy and potential for a small business set-aside under NAICS code 314999. Interested parties must provide company identifiers, socioeconomic status, and feedback on their ability to meet the System Requirements Document specifications. Responses are limited to 20 pages and must be submitted to the primary point of contact by October 22, 2026.
