The General Services Administration (GSA) is organizing a vendor information session on January 31, 2008, aimed at conducting market research to determine the best approach for acquiring transportation services for its Global Supply program. The primary objective for this program is to achieve cost savings while maintaining high-quality service standards. Following this, the session will address strategies for securing transportation services for other federal agencies with significant transportation needs, focusing on streamlining the ordering process alongside ensuring timely delivery and quality service. Notably, third-party logistics providers (3PLs) are excluded from consideration for servicing these customers. This initiative is managed by the GSA's Office of Acquisition Operations and falls under the NAICS code 484121, which pertains to general freight trucking. The point of contact for this effort is Contracting Officer Patrick T. Mudd, based out of Washington, DC. Through this session, the GSA seeks to gather input from vendors to shape a procurement strategy that balances cost efficiency, quality, and operational streamlining across multiple federal transportation needs.

On January 31, 2008, the General Services Administration (GSA) will host a vendor information session to conduct market research on how the government can best acquire transportation services for the GSA?s Global Supply program. Once this discussion concludes there will be a discussion on how GSA can best secure transportation services for other Federal agencies with significant transportation needs. 3PLs are not being considered to service these customers. For the Global Supply program, the main driver is to obtain lower costs while maintaining quality service levels, and for other customer agencies, the main goals are to streamline the ordering process while ensuring on-time delivery and quality service levels.
