The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center in San Diego plans to award a sole-source contract to SBS Technologies in Albuquerque, New Mexico for the procurement of twenty-two Versa Module Eurocard (VME) cards. Specifically, the contract involves the MIL-STD 1397 Type F card, part number ASF-V6-1/MRTM, which is uniquely compatible with the current Command and Control Processor (C2P) software used by the Navy. No alternative product is considered feasible since switching would necessitate rewriting the C2P software, an effort estimated to require over five man-years and likely cause significant delays and additional costs affecting U.S. and foreign military sales Navies alike. This contract is not a request for proposal but a direct award due to the sole-source justification based on compatibility and technical necessity. For any inquiries, the designated contact is Matthew Fleming at the provided Navy email address. The award reflects a critical procurement to maintain operational continuity and avoid disruptions in deployment and installation schedules. The notice was posted on May 24, 2006, by the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, part of the Department of Defense.

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, San Diego (SSC San Diego) intends to award a contract to SBS Technologies, 7401 Snaproll N.E., Albuquerque, NM 87109, on a sole-source basis for twenty-two (22) Versa Module Eurocard (VME) cards. The SBS Technologies MIL-STD 1397 Type F card, part number ASF-V6-1/MRTM, is the only compatible product available to support the existing Command and Control Processor (C2P) software. An alternate product would require rewriting of the existing C2P software, which would require over 5 man-years of effort, leading to fiscal impacts and delays to the delivery and installation schedules throughout the US and FMS Navies. Questions concerning this sole source contract may be directed to Matthew Fleming at contact@example.gov. This is not a request for proposal. Numbered Note 22 applies.
