NOTICE OF INTENT SOLE SOURCE ONLY REQUIREMENT DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT: This is a notice of intent to award a sole source only contract to perform scheduled maintenance/calibration inspections and unscheduled maintenance of Versa TREK 240 Blood Culture System and the computer system. This requirement is for the 55th Medical Group on Offutt AFB, NE. JUSTIFICATION AUTHORITY: FAR 6.302-1 Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements JUSTIFICATION OF SOLE SOURCE ONLY: REMEL Inc. acquired TREK diagnostics and ThermoFisher which is the manufacturer of the equipment to be serviced. REMEL Inc. owns proprietary rights to the Versa TREK blood analyzer and its computer software. REMEL Inc. is the only authorized maintenance provider for the government owned equipment. Only the manufacturer can provide customer support and software upgrades that are required as part of this contract. No other service agencies are available or authorized. Without this acquisition, the 55th Medical Group (MDG) will not have coverage if the equipment malfunctions. This would prevent patients from receiving valuable medical treatment. No other source meets all requirements REMEL Inc is the only responsible source with the necessary, design, production, manufacturing and process data capable of providing the warranty service that meets the minimum requirements for functionality.
