The Department of Commerce is forecasting the procurement of a high-power, single-frequency, continuous wave laser system to support the Nano Spectroscopy Group's research into color center science. This equipment is essential for measuring photoelectrically and optically detected magnetic resonance in diamond as part of the SI-Traceable Vector Magnetometry for Secure Navigation initiative. The required system must be mode hop free and provide gap-free tunable wavelengths across four specific spectral regions: 450-525 nm, 540-650 nm, 900-1050 nm, and 1080-1300 nm, with a power output exceeding 200 mW. The laser will be utilized for photoluminescence and photoelectric spectroscopic studies of semiconductors and diamond under various temperatures and magnetic or electric fields. To ensure operational success, the system must be fully compatible with existing electronic and spectroscopic infrastructure. The performance of this contract will take place in Gaithersburg, and the procurement is categorized under NAICS code 333298.

To support our research activities into color center science and to measure the photoelectrically detected and optically detected magnetic resonance in diamond as part of the “SI-Traceable Vector Magnetometry for Secure Navigation” IMS, The Nano Spectroscopy Group requires the purchase of one (1) widely tunable, single-frequency, mode hop free, continuous wave laser system capable of high power output (greater than 200 mW) of gap-free wavelengths in four regions of the spectrum; 450-525 nanometers (nm), 540-650 nm, 900-1050 nm and 1080-1300 nm. This complex laser system will be used for photoelectric and photoluminescence spectroscopic studies of color centers in diamond and other semiconductors at varying microwave excitation, magnetic/electric fields, and temperatures. The system must be compatible with the existing spectroscopic and electronic infrastructure.
