Mohave County is seeking a Vote By Mail Sorting Machine to handle the processing of ballot affidavit envelopes used in their elections. Voters return ballots in envelopes that include a return mailing address and an affidavit requiring their signature. Election staff manually remove a perforated tab to expose the signature area, verify signatures, and prepare the envelopes for further processing by the Elections Department. Envelopes with unverifiable signatures or issues undergo a curing process to comply with Arizona law. Currently, Mohave County lacks an automated system for sorting incoming mail ballots, despite serving nearly 150,000 active registered voters as of January 2026 across a large geographic area divided into multiple precincts. Significant volumes of early ballots have been received in recent elections, ranging from several hundred to tens of thousands per event, highlighting the need for efficient ballot handling. The solicitation, issued by the Mohave County Recorder’s office, invites qualified offerors to provide sorting services that meet the requirements outlined under Arizona Revised Statutes 16-204 for all required elections. The contract details and submission deadlines are managed through the county’s procurement portal, with the procurement officer available for contact. This solicitation is crucial to improving the county’s election operations by automating the sorting process, thereby enhancing accuracy and efficiency in handling a high volume of vote by mail ballots.
