AI Contract Overview

The Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 6 plans to negotiate a sole source lease-to-purchase agreement with Xenex Disinfection Services for two Xenex Pulsed Xenon LightStrike Robots. These devices will be used at the VA Hunter Holmes McGuire Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia, where the existing staff are already trained on their operation and the devices have been approved by infection control authorities. The procurement is justified to maintain standardization since Xenex is the manufacturer and their distribution agreements do not extend to equipment leasing, thus no other vendors can fulfill the lease arrangement. This action is being conducted under FAR regulations for non-competitive purchases above the simplified acquisition threshold and falls under the NAICS code for Surgical Appliance and Supplies Manufacturing with an SBA size standard of 750 employees. Although this notice announces the intent to award the contract solely to Xenex, other responsible sources capable of meeting the requirements are invited to submit capability statements by a specified deadline. However, the government retains sole discretion to proceed without competition based on the responses received.
