The Social Security Administration (SSA) is conducting market research to identify qualified small businesses capable of providing Warehouse Support Services at its headquarters in Baltimore, MD, and the Preston Gateway warehouse in Hanover, MD. This effort is not a solicitation but a sources-sought notice to gather information about potential contractors who meet the requirements. Firms must hold and maintain ISO 9001:2000 certification for Warehousing and Distribution Management throughout the contract term. The services encompass a range of warehouse activities such as shipping and receiving, stacking and storing, inventory management, loading and unloading trucks, picking, distribution, housekeeping, and operating material handling equipment. The anticipated workload includes processing between 100,000 to 130,000 line items annually. Interested small businesses are invited to provide information including company details, capability statements, three references from contracts of similar size and complexity, ISO certification documentation, and other relevant data within a 10-page limit. The government will use the submitted information solely for assessing capable sources and will not compensate for the information or provide feedback. No solicitation documents or pricing data will be distributed, nor will requests for solicitation copies or telephone inquiries be entertained. Responses must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. EST on May 2, 2008, to the designated contracting officer, Syreeta Gay, either by mail or email. This process will inform SSA’s decisions regarding procurement set-asides and solicitation requirements but will not result in any awards.
