Wastewater System Expansion Project

The Wastewater System Expansion Project, managed by the Fall River Valley Community Services District, involves extending the wastewater collection system across the unincorporated communities of Fall River Mills and McArthur in Shasta County, California. The scope of work includes installing several thousand feet of sewer pipe and appurtenant structures, connecting existing structures to the new system, and abandoning septic tanks according to Shasta County requirements. Key infrastructure improvements include the installation of three new lift stations in McArthur and the upgrading of existing lift stations at Bridge Street, Hospital, and River Street through the replacement of pumps, motors, electrical components, controls, and piping. Additional technical enhancements include the installation of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) equipment and back-up level controls at the lift stations. At the Wastewater Treatment Plant, the project entails constructing a new aeration pond, rehabilitating a building for aeration equipment, installing a self-cleaning mechanical screen in the concrete headworks, and replacing electronic sensors for SCADA integration. Power infrastructure upgrades include installing emergency back-up generators at the treatment plant and specific lift stations, as well as replacing a PG&E transformer near Reynolds Road with underground electrical conduit and conductors. The project has been approved under CEQA guidelines, with a Mitigated Negative Declaration confirming no significant environmental effects.
