ITEM DESCRIPTION- Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane has a requirement for a quantity of ten (10) Arbitrary Waveform Generators (AWG) Part Number 670C-4C-2256M-HV4-GPIB with specific salient characteristics.


  • Must have 4 independently controlled analog channels (minimum)
  • Must support up to 12Vpp on 50ohm for each analog channel (minimum)
  • Must support offsets from -6 to +6V on 50ohm for each analog channel (minimum)
  • Must have a Sampling rate of 100Msa/s (minimum) and 600Msa/s (ideal)
  • Must have GPIB interface for communication
  • Must have LAN interface for communication
  • Must support SCPI communication
  • Must have 256Ms memory (minimum)
  • Must allow the ability to play complex waveforms (sequences/segments) and synchronize them between all 4 analog channels for continuous playback.
  • Must allow for the building, playback, and control of all operations via remote GPIB and LAN interface.
  • Must have a physical screen and buttons to show status and allow manual control of the device.
  • Must have 16 bits of vertical resolution (minimum)

SOLE SOURCE PROCUREMENT- The proposed contract action is for the supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source, limited sources or brand name only BNC CORP of Sand Rafael, California, cage code 23908, under the authority of FAR 12.201-1 for Commercial items using simplified procedures. This is being solicited on a sole source only basis because The required Arbitrary Waveform Generators (AWG) will be used to provide various synchronized pulses to modulators and test equipment throughout Aegis test sets at Crane and external vendor facilities. This purchase is specific to BNC Corp (Berkeley Nucleonic Corp) as they are the only direct supplier of AWG in the U.S. that meet the specified characteristics required. The BNC Corp AWGs have been tested and approved as the best equipment to perform within the Aegis test sets. Any provider outside of BNC Corp, may not provide the specific characteristic required or the firmware for the units to be able to be used without further resources being expended.  All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, which shall be considered by the agency. However, a determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this solicitation is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
