Weaver Creek Habitat Restoration Project

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife issued Restoration Management Permit RMP-2026-0034-R1 to the Yurok Tribe on August 31, 2026. This Qualifying Restoration Project, known as the Weaver Creek Habitat Restoration Project, is designed to benefit native fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats. Specifically, the project aims to improve spawning and rearing habitats for the southern Oregon/northern California Evolutionarily Significant Unit of Coho Salmon by realigning the channel, increasing the floodplain footprint and inundation frequency, and establishing a network of floodplain swales. The project is managed under the authority of section 1670 of the Fish and Game Code and is expected to provide substantial cumulative benefits to the local ecosystem.
