Weaver Creek Habitat Restoration Project

The Weaver Creek Habitat Restoration Project in Trinity County, California, aims to restore natural hydrologic processes by expanding the floodplain footprint and increasing the frequency of overbank flooding during the winter wet season. This will be accomplished through targeted terrace lowering and the installation of hydraulic controls designed to elevate water surface levels, encouraging seasonal inundation of adjacent floodplain areas. Alongside these measures, the project includes the realignment of the baseflow channel and the creation of a network of floodplain swales to enhance water distribution and support natural sediment transport.
