The proposed project involves construction of two new buildings at West Park High School: a three-story academic classroom building (Building V) and a performing arts center (Building J). Together, the buildings would add approximately 75,695 square feet of building area to the campus and would have a maximum height of 55 feet. West Park High School is a comprehensive public high school serving students in grades 9 through 12 and is planned to accommodate up to 3,200 students at buildout.
The project would also include associated landscaping, hardscape, pedestrian improvements, and underground utilities. Pedestrian access would be provided by on-site walkways designed to provide safe, accessible routes consistent with applicable accessibility requirements. The project site is in the northwestern portion of the campus on vacant land that was previously graded during Phase I development. The site is currently undeveloped and contains no buildings or structures. Panther Place borders the site to the north, an existing parking lot and internal vehicular circulation are located immediately to the east, and classroom buildings are located to the west and south. The surrounding school facilities, including facilities currently under construction as part of Phase II, are components of the previously approved project. The proposed project would not modify the existing parking configuration or on-site vehicular circulation.
