Full Description

USDA Forest Service Wildland Fire Science Lab, Seattle, Washington, intend to issue a firm fixed price, sole source award to CPP, Inc., 2400 Midpoint Drive, Fort Collins, CO 80525 to support research underway at the US Forest Service to assess how much physics is needed to adequately simulation smoke generation and transport during prescribed burns. This procurement is being conducted under FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1). To solicit to another source they would have to have significant experience with source code modification required to implement and evaluate the level set model for fire front propagation in the Wildland-urban interface Fire Dynamics Simulator (WFDS), without this experience there will be a significant loss of efficiency due to the short time frame needed to learn the software well enough to proceed with the additional source code changes, testing and final simulation required to complete the project.
