Wheatland Regional Sewer Pipeline Project

The Wheatland Regional Sewer Pipeline Project, led by the City of Wheatland, involves the construction of an approximately eight-mile sewer pipeline alignment within the City of Wheatland and unincorporated areas of Yuba County, California. The scope of work includes the installation of three new pump stations, the creation of a new Public Works corporation yard, and the decommissioning of the existing wastewater treatment plant. The project is subject to various regulatory standards, including the California Environmental Quality Act and a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement under section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code. Recent amendments to the project, specifically regarding the State Street Culvert, include minor design changes that increase the permanent impact on Grasshopper Slough by 0.006 acres. These changes are offset by a reduction in the project area of Project 9, which avoids 0.006 acres of permanent impact to vernal pool habitat. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the State Water Resources Control Board have issued determinations confirming that the project will not have significant environmental effects within their jurisdictions, provided that the certified Environmental Impact Report and associated mitigation measures are followed.
