The U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) intends to award a sole source to the University of Maryland Wind Tunnel Facility, 8167 Paint Branch Drive, College Park, Md. 20742 for Beach Umbrella testing. The wind tunnel at University of Maryland in College Park, MD is the only one within 50 miles of the CPSC National Product Testing and Evaluation lab at 5 Research Place, Rockville, MD capable of testing due to the size of the samples. The wind tunnel test section must be able to accommodate a beach umbrella and test stand setup that is a total of 8 tall and 7 wide. Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy the agency requirements; the government believes the University of Maryland Wind Tunnel Facility, is the only facility that is both within 50 miles of CPSC testing lab and capable of testing due to the size of the samples. This notice is NOT a request for competitive quotes; however, any firm that believes it can supply the equipment that meets the following specifications and requirements may give written notice to the Contract Specialist via email at ggrayson@cpsc.gov, by 12 PM EST on December 15, 2022. No phone calls please.
