This is a notice of intent to award a sole source, Firm- Fixed Price (FFP) contract under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) - FAR 6.302-1(b)(2) - Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements, to AS&E, located at 829 Middlesex Turnpike , Billerica, MA. The scope of the requirement is to service, repair and certify MDC Guaynabo's Gemini X Ray inspection system and its Rapiscan patented technology in order for it to continue to be fully compliant with NIJ-0601.02/NIJ-0601.03 standards as well as the testing requirements of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP). AS&E is the original manufacturer of this equipment and is the only known company at this time which can provide the FBOP with the proprietary Rapiscan system and technical services required for repairing this technology. The requirement will be awarded by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The NAICS code for this requirement is 334519. This notice of intent to award a sole source contract is not a request for competitive quotes. A Request for Quote (RFQ) will not be available for this requirement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Any firm that believes it can provide the stated service can provide supporting documents demonstrating their capability and specifications within three (3) days after date of publication of this notice of intent. Responses received will be used for future acquisitions.
