The City of New Haven's Youth and Recreation Department (YARD) will grant New Haven based non-profit organizations funding to support expenses for current programming to offer the program free or at minimal cost to New Haven school age-youth; school age-youth is defined as individuals between the ages of 5 and 17. Fully remote/online programming will not be supported by this grant. Programming that could be supported could include but is not limited to 1) Introductory clinics to sports 2) Program expansion supplies; or 3) Student scholarships for program enrollment purposes. Successful grantees should show a willingness to partner with other organizations to prepare the city's youth and families to take advantage of your programming opportunities. Agencies applying with a sole focus on engaging youth as program participants must have a focus including but not limited to literacy, physical health and wellness, social, emotional and behavioral health, mental health, sexual health, homeless youth, special needs youth, youth job readiness, youth leadership, youth mentorship and youth mediation. Please note by applying for this grant it does not guarantee funding or guarantee maximum funding. Guided by the Ad Hoc Committee, this grant has been created to maximize outcomes. The grant will allow for the Youth and Recreation Department to partner with existing New Haven based non-profit organizations to deliver services. Proposals will be selected based upon: • Number of New Haven participants to be served • Previous record of success • Ability to provide a detailed program summary at the conclusion of the grant cycle Using information provided in the agency proposal, the Committee will select organizations with successful programs to fund additional program capacity. Grant recipients will be required to OFFER program participant slots to at risk and high-risk youth.
