The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), under the auspices of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Office of Acquisition, intends to procure preventive maintenance and repair services for specific laboratory equipment manufactured by Sequenom, Inc. This contract covers maintenance for three Multimek Systems and one Robodesign Nano Dispenser, including two preventive maintenance visits and unlimited emergency service calls encompassing labor, parts, and travel costs over a twelve-month period. The acquisition, expected to be below the $100,000 simplified acquisition threshold, will be awarded on a sole-source basis to Sequenom, Inc., as the company is uniquely positioned to perform these specialized services due to its status as the original equipment manufacturer. The award process will follow the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13 simplified acquisition procedures and will not be open for competitive bidding, as competitive requirements under FAR Part 6 do not apply. Market research confirmed that only Sequenom, Inc. can provide these services efficiently and effectively, making it impractical to consider other vendors. Interested parties may express their interest and capability, but the government retains full discretion on whether to pursue competitive procurement in the future based on responses. Correspondence related to this notice can be directed to the NHLBI Office of Acquisition, with contact points designated for contract specialists and procurement branch leads.
