Z--Fossil Hills Trail, Boardwalk, pedestrian bridge and concrete trail

The Fossil Hills Trail Rehabilitation project at Agate Fossil Bed National Monument includes the demolition of an existing trail and the construction of a new trail to improve park maintenance operations and visitor accessibility. The trail to be removed includes 520 Linear Feet of pressure treated boardwalk and 4500 Linear Feet of asphalt trail. The new trail consist of approximately 500 Linear Feet of timber boardwalk supported with Helical Piers and 8000 Linear Feet of colored concrete flatwork. The project also includes the removal and re-installation of interpretive exhibits and benches; the installation of new shade structures; and the re-vegetation of areas disturbed by or as a result of the project. Limited staging/ storage areas are available on site. The park and existing trail will be open during construction. Phasing of construction operations and the construction of temporary access roads are required to minimize impacts to the public and the native plants and soils.
