Full Description

Contractor is to design/build project to remove the existing 16-story base hospital, including out buildings that are part of the hospital complex, and build back a site that is grassed and paved to match the surrounding street layout. The contractor shall design the site build back in accordance with the RFP requirements. Bid drawing information shows the extent of the existing building and sitework. New sitework includes earthwork to fill in the pit from the hospital removal and repair and repaving of adjacent streets, sidewalks and parking areas. The hospital pad area shall be landscaped with grass and plants. Existing trees shall be protected and maintained to the fullest extent possible. Any trees removed shall be replaced in accordance with the RFP requirements. Extensive hazardous material abatement is required. The contractor shall prepare an abatement plan in accordance with the RFP documents. They include a hazardous material report and drawings showing the location of known hazardous materials. Since the building was used as a hospital, there is also probable microbial abatement required at equipment such as fume hoods and lead contamination at some sink traps. All surrounding buildings shall be protected from dust intrusion from the demolition. Recycling of the non-hazardous building materials and equipment is required. All demolition shall be demolished by the mechanical method of demolition
