AI Contract Overview

The US Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District, intends to award a firm-fixed-price, performance-based service contract to the Balfour Beatty/DPR/Big D Joint Venture for facilities operations and maintenance services at the Utah Data Center located on Camp Williams, Utah. Estimated at 20 million dollars, this sole-source procurement is conducted under FAR 6.302-1 and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) because the current construction contractor is the only responsible source capable of providing these essential services as facilities are completed. The contract period is approximately 14 months, running from September 2012 through November 2013, with an option to extend services for up to six months to prevent gaps in coverage during the transition to a permanent provider. The scope of work includes daily cleaning, trash services, and general operations and maintenance to protect equipment and infrastructure in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and preserve warranties. This action serves as a stop-gap measure to ensure successful turnover to the Government until a comprehensive, competitively sourced facilities operations and maintenance contract is issued in early 2013. The Joint Venture will also be responsible for transitioning services to the new contractor once the permanent agreement is in place.
