Hello everyone! We've added subcontractor base search to Ask CLEATUS and the Agent page. Name a military base, a city, or zip codes, and CLEATUS lists the companies that have subcontracted there, ranked by how much work they have done there, with optional trade and status filters.
What's New
Subcontractor base search answers a question a headquarters filter cannot: which companies have actually worked at a place. It works for military bases, cities, and zip codes. CLEATUS reads the federal subaward filings for that place and ranks the subcontractors by how many subawards they had there, then by dollars. Recent work shows up too. Most subaward filings since early 2025 carry no place of performance, so when you give a place name and state, CLEATUS places them by their prime award's city and state. At Camp Lejeune, that grew the list for FY2025 onward from 8 companies to 94.
How It Works
- Ask in plain words, for example "Which subcontractors have worked at Camp Lejeune, NC since FY2025?" or "Which subcontractors have worked in Norfolk, VA?" Include the state. Add zip codes if a base's filings use a nearby town's name. Renamed bases match their old names, so Fort Bragg and Fort Liberty return the same history
- 🔧 Name a trade ("electrical", "roofing") and CLEATUS reads each filing's scope of work and keeps only the companies whose work matches. Trade searches use recorded places of performance only, so their results end in early 2025. A very broad trade search asks you to narrow the years instead of returning a partial list
- ✅ Name a status ("woman-owned", "HUBZone", "service-disabled veteran-owned") and CLEATUS filters before it ranks, so a qualifying company outside the top 20 still makes the list
- Each company shows its subawards and dollars at that place, the primes it worked under, the agencies, its scope of work, and its first and last fiscal year there. Statuses are split into agency-verified certifications and self-reported registration claims
- The answer states the fiscal years it covers, how many companies matched, and the date of the latest matching filing. Chat lists the top 20

Why It Matters
A contractor search filters on where a company is headquartered. That is a different question from who has done the work in a place: a firm next door to a base may never have worked on it, while a firm three states away may have ten years of subawards there. Now you can build a subcontractor target list, or check a teaming partner's footprint, from the filings themselves. The verified and self-reported split shows which statuses you can rely on for a subcontracting plan, and a missing certification reads as unknown, not as a no.
