Capability Matrix
What is Capability Matrix?
A capability matrix compares an opportunity's needs with the company's and partners' demonstrated capabilities. It highlights strengths, gaps, and the evidence supporting each assessment. It differs from a compliance matrix, which maps response requirements to the proposal.
How to use it
List the required work or qualifications, responsible performer, supporting experience, and unresolved gaps. Distinguish a demonstrated capability from a planned hire or unconfirmed partner commitment. Use the matrix during qualification and update it when the solution changes.
Example
A prime can perform three required service areas but needs a partner for a fourth. The matrix records the partner commitment and evidence as unresolved until verified. A broad capability statement alone does not close the gap.
