Core initiatives include landscape rehabilitation, concrete structural upgrades, and the integration of durable, low-maintenance amenities that support public safety and long-term usability. The agency most frequently procures landscaping services, site preparation, and concrete foundation work to support the construction and renovation of parks and recreational facilities. Contracting activity is heavily centered on civil construction and grounds maintenance, with recurring needs for hardscape installation, drainage improvements, and structural repairs. Primary procurement activity targets NAICS codes related to land management (561730), site preparation (238910), and concrete construction (238110), reflecting a focus on physical infrastructure over operational services. Parking and signage infrastructure (812930, 339950) are also regularly addressed to improve accessibility and wayfinding. The agency engages contractors with demonstrated expertise in municipal park systems, favoring firms experienced in public works compliance, environmental permitting, and phased construction in occupied urban environments. Baltimore City Recreation and Parks operates under the Maryland state government, managing over 200 parks and recreational facilities across the city.
