What does City of Kennesaw do?

The City of Kennesaw prioritizes enhancing community engagement and urban planning through targeted investments in professional services and public events. Its core mission centers on fostering civic vitality by supporting long-term planning initiatives and cultural programming that enrich public life. Strategic priorities include updating comprehensive land use plans to guide sustainable growth and delivering high-impact public events—such as fireworks displays—that strengthen community identity and attract regional visitors. These efforts reflect a commitment to data-driven municipal development and public experience design, with procurement activities aligned to professional expertise rather than infrastructure or operational supplies. The agency consistently procures architectural and event promotion services through competitive solicitation processes, typically using Request for Professional Services (RFP) and Request for Proposal (RFP) vehicles. Contracts are awarded on a project-specific basis, emphasizing qualifications, experience, and alignment with municipal goals over price alone. There is no indication of blanket purchase agreements or indefinite-delivery contracts, suggesting a preference for tailored, outcome-based engagements. Primary procurement activity is concentrated in NAICS 541310 (Architectural Services) and 711320 (Promoters of Performing Arts, Sports, and Similar Events without Facilities), indicating a focus on planning expertise and event execution capacity. The agency does not employ set-asides or diversity preferences in its solicitations, and vendor selection appears based on demonstrated capability and alignment with municipal objectives rather than socioeconomic criteria. Relationships with contractors are transactional and project-bound, with no evidence of recurring or long-term vendor partnerships. As a municipal entity within the State of Georgia, the City of Kennesaw operates independently under its own governance structure, with procurement activities managed locally. It relies on open solicitation mechanisms to acquire specialized services, avoiding centralized state contracts. Its geographic scope is limited to municipal boundaries, and its procurement structure reflects a small-to-midsize city’s emphasis on targeted, high-value professional engagements.
