The DGAEPM focuses on the procurement and sustainment of specialized aerospace, aviation, and tactical field equipment. Its core mission involves maintaining operational readiness through the acquisition of critical life-support systems, aircraft maintenance infrastructure, and emergency response gear. Key priorities include the sustainment of aviator breathing oxygen systems and the procurement of essential survival and tactical equipment for personnel. Procurement patterns center on high-specification hardware and technical components. The agency frequently solicits specialized aviation parts, such as oxygen system valve assemblies and aircraft maintenance platforms, alongside tactical field gear including sleeping bags and emergency equipment cases. There is also a consistent requirement for specialized power solutions, specifically non-rechargeable batteries for PRC112G communication systems, and cargo parachute canopies. The agency operates as a component of the Government of Canada, managing a diverse portfolio of technical requirements ranging from heavy aircraft support equipment to individual soldier and aviator life-support systems.
