The FA8693 Aflcmc F-35 Fleet Management Ozj is tasked with sustaining and enhancing the operational readiness of the F-35 Lightning II fleet through specialized logistics and component integration. Its core mission centers on procuring mission-critical aircraft subsystems and structural components that ensure airworthiness, mobility, and mission adaptability across global operational environments. Strategic priorities include modernizing onboard storage and mission support systems, advancing modular payload integration, and maintaining supply chain resilience for high-performance aerospace platforms. The agency focuses on rapid fielding of tailored hardware solutions that directly support flight operations, maintenance cycles, and expeditionary deployment requirements for F-35A variants. Procurement activities are concentrated on precision-manufactured aircraft components, particularly mobility storage racks and travel pods—specialized hardware designed for transport, stowage, and rapid deployment of mission equipment. Contracts are typically initiated through sources-sought notices to validate industry capability and technical alignment prior to formal solicitation, indicating a preference for tailored, non-standard solutions over commercial off-the-shelf procurement. The agency relies on direct award mechanisms and defense-specific acquisition channels to ensure rapid response to evolving fleet needs. The agency primarily targets NAICS 336413 for aircraft subsystems and 332313 for structural plate work, reflecting a focus on custom-engineered, low-volume, high-integrity components. No set-asides are currently employed, suggesting procurement is driven by technical specificity rather than socioeconomic preferences. Vendors are expected to demonstrate advanced manufacturing capabilities in aerospace-grade materials, precision fabrication, and defense-certified quality systems. Organized under the Department of the Air Force and operating as part of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, this unit supports a globally deployed fleet with no fixed geographic footprint. It utilizes standard DoD acquisition vehicles including sole-source and competitive sealed bids, prioritizing technical compliance and rapid delivery over volume-based contracting.
