The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Bureau of Forestry is soliciting a Tree Estimate Timber Stumpage Sale for 140 acres located in Jefferson Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The sale is divided into sixteen blocks and consists of approximately 2169.91 MBF of mostly Red Oak and 356.34 HCF of mostly Red Maple and Northern Hardwood pulp. The contract will be awarded to the highest qualified bidder, provided they meet the statewide Contractor Responsibility Program requirements and conform to Pennsylvania non-discrimination regulations. Bidders must submit electronically signed bids via Bid Express by December 9, 2026, accompanied by a 10,000 dollar bid deposit. The scope of work requires the buyer to perform significant infrastructure and site maintenance, including the installation of three temporary skid trail bridges, 32 broad based dips, six stone headwalls, and six stone endwalls. The buyer is also responsible for procuring and installing various HDPE culverts, 8 rolls of non-woven geotextile, and over 2,100 tons of limestone (including #3, ZRC, and ZA varieties), as well as seeding and mulching approximately 4 acres of disturbed areas. Operational restrictions prohibit hauling and skidding from November 16 to April 1. On-site crew leaders must be trained under the Pennsylvania Sustainable Forestry Initiative, and strict marking protocols using specific paint colors must be followed to distinguish between trees to be felled and reserved trees.
