The Caltrans proposed maintenance project includes removal of a depth of 0.10’ of existing asphalt pavement by cold plane and replacement with Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt (RHMA) along Northbound State Route 73 (NB SR-73) off-ramp and loop on-ramp at State Route 133 (SR-133) Laguna Canyon Road, and SR-133 from the SR-73/SR-133 Separation to Laguna Lakes Trail Bridge, in the city of Laguna Beach, County of Orange. Work includes grinding, detours, a temporary 8-hour ramp night closure, ground disturbance and soil disturbance for temporary sign-post installations of 4” by 6” post and 4.5’ embedment depth. The purpose of the project is to preserve the roadway by repairing distressed pavement along SR-133 mainline and SR-73 loop on/off ramps. The need of the project is due the current condition of the concrete pavement on SR-133 and SR-73 exhibits surface distresses that require repairs; if left uncorrected, will deteriorate to a major roadway rehabilitation need. No vegetation removal is anticipated. Disturbed soil area is anticipated to be less than 1.0 acre. The project has state funding. The project will require approximately 80 working days. All work will occur within paved travel way within State right of way. No new right of way is anticipated.
