The Naval Sea Systems Command is continuing its contract with BAE Systems for the design, development, testing, and construction of the Advanced Gun System (AGS), as well as the production of the Close In Gun System (CIGS) in support of the DDG 1000 Program. BAE Systems, located in Minneapolis, MN, is identified as the sole source for this contract since it is the exclusive designer and developer of the AGS and the only producer of major caliber naval gun systems. This sole-source procurement is being conducted under a provision allowing contracts to be awarded to a single responsible source when no other suppliers meet agency requirements. Information about this contract has been posted on two platforms: the Federal Business Opportunities page and the Navy Electronic Commerce Online site, with both available for interested parties to access details. While the main contract award goes directly to BAE Systems, companies seeking subcontracting opportunities are encouraged to reach out to BAE directly. The contract relates specifically to the ongoing support and production demands of naval gun systems integral to the DDG 1000 Program, underscoring the critical role BAE Systems plays in maintaining and advancing naval defense capabilities.
