The United States Marine Corps, through its Marine Corps Systems Command, is hosting an Industry Day event focused on Electro-Optics for Force Protection Systems and Target Acquisition Systems on July 21-22, 2004, at the Clubs of Quantico. The event aims to engage industry participants by providing briefings on the Marine Corps' Optics Technology Roadmap and current and future programs. Attendees, limited to vendors interested in individual hand-held, helmet-mounted, and small-arms mounted electro-optic systems, will have opportunities to present their product briefs and conduct live-fire and field demonstrations tailored towards day/night and reduced visibility optical technologies such as image intensifier, thermal imagers, fused technology, and short wave infra-red systems. The event schedule includes keynote remarks, program overviews, numerous briefing sessions, as well as evening demonstration periods at the ranges. Each vendor may reserve one fifty-minute block for briefings and one thirty-minute block for demonstrations on a first-come, first-served basis. Only unclassified presentations focused on ground-based infantry mission-relevant equipment will be entertained, and the Marine Corps panel, which comprises representatives from various Marine Corps commands and test agencies, will be available to clarify requirements but will not evaluate product merits. Industry participants are encouraged to submit questions or comments by June 18, 2004, and are advised that this event is solely for planning purposes and does not constitute procurement commitment by the government.
