The Department of Defense, through Project Management Soldier Weapons (PM SW), is organizing a Small Arms Fire Control (SAFC) Industry Day on June 27, 2013, at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. This event aims to facilitate an information exchange among DoD representatives, private industry, contractors, and academia focused on advancing technology for enhanced target acquisition and precision targeting in small arms weapon systems such as the XM2010 Enhanced Sniper Rifle, M4 Carbine, and various machine guns. Participation is by invitation only, with no walk-ins allowed, and selected respondents will have the opportunity for individual meetings with PM SW staff to discuss emerging technologies that could significantly impact small arms fire control systems. This engagement is part of a Request for Information (RFI) process designed to gather insights on future advancements in this field without constituting a solicitation or promising any contractual commitment. Respondents interested in participating must submit a concise proposal, no longer than five pages, detailing the tactical benefits, technical and programmatic risks of their current small arms fire control research and development efforts, as well as program plans, timelines, and testing status. The submission must include company details such as size, contact information, and should avoid proprietary information unless necessary, as all submissions will be safeguarded in accordance with federal regulations. Responses are due by June 10, 2013, and must be sent via email to the specified point of contact. This RFI is strictly for planning and information-gathering purposes and does not entail any financial reimbursement or commitment from the government to issue a solicitation or contract.
