The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division is conducting market research to identify companies capable of providing pre-shot sniper detection (PSSD) systems to enhance multisensor persistent surveillance capabilities. The PSSD system aims to quickly detect, locate, and neutralize sniper and small arms fire threats across day, night, and adverse weather conditions in both open and urban terrains. Key system requirements include automatic alerting, slew-to-cue functionalities, and integration to improve battlefield situational awareness. There is no prescribed technical approach; potential technologies may include optic retro-reflected sensors, radar, or other methods. The government requests detailed responses covering system features such as detection accuracy, range, false alarm rates, operational limitations, field of view, installation and maintenance processes, training requirements, environmental ruggedness, regulatory approvals, technology readiness levels, and data output capabilities. This announcement serves solely as a request for information and market survey, with no funding currently available and no commitment to award contracts. Responses should include company and product information and be submitted by the specified deadline. Proprietary information will be protected, and costs for submission are not reimbursable. The Government encourages interested parties to provide comprehensive technical descriptions and rationale for their proposed PSSD solutions, addressing all requested technical and operational parameters.
