The Department of Defense is conducting market research through a Sources Sought Notice to identify qualified construction contractors, including eligible Small Businesses, for a project involving the construction of a Munitions Maintenance and Inspection facility, two earth-covered storage igloos, a Munitions Assembly Complex Pad, inert storage, and above-ground munitions storage facilities at Fort Wayne, Indiana. The project is based on design documents developed by an architectural-engineering firm, with an estimated construction timeline of approximately 18 months. The anticipated contract value is between $14 million and $18 million, and the formal solicitation is expected to be released before the end of July 2026. Interested parties must submit a written notice expressing their intent to bid as a prime contractor by May 28, 2026, at 5:00 PM EST, providing a maximum seven-page PDF document that includes a positive statement of intent along with a completed Sources Sought Response Form. Respondents are encouraged to include relevant project experience from the past three years with supporting details. The notice stresses that failure to respond will not disqualify potential participation in the future solicitation. Should Small Businesses not be available to ensure adequate competition, the project may be competitively advertised without restrictions. Responses should be emailed to the designated contacts at the Air Force office in Fort Wayne with a specific subject line referencing the Munitions Storage Area.
