The U.S. Navy plans to contract Lockheed Martin Corporation for the development, integration, and testing of the Automatic Radar Periscope Detection and Discrimination (ARPDD) enhancement to the APS-147 radar system used in the MH-60R weapons platform. This contract will also cover sustaining engineering services necessary for production engineering change proposals to incorporate the ARPDD system into the MH-60R production line, along with project management and related logistics and engineering support. The contract will be awarded on a sole-source basis due to Lockheed Martin's unique knowledge, proprietary technical data, and experience essential for timely project completion. The procurement is managed by the Naval Air Systems Command under NAICS code 336411, with offices located in Patuxent River, Maryland. The contract is structured as either a Cost or Firm Fixed Price (FFP) agreement. This solicitation was posted in June 2006 and remains informational, with designated contract specialists available as points of contact. The ARPDD enhancement aims to improve the radar's capability in detecting and discriminating periscopes, thereby enhancing the MH-60R’s operational effectiveness in maritime missions.
